OVERVIEW
As the product designer for Launch, I led the creation of an easy-to-use platform that allows companies to set up custom-branded stores for their employees. With Launch, admins can quickly add products, customize branding, and select flexible shipping options, while employees enjoy a smooth and intuitive shopping experience. Built for users of all technical levels, the platform ensures that setting up and managing an employee store is straightforward and accessible.

Launch addresses a gap for companies seeking a branded, employee-specific store experience without requiring complex setup or technical knowledge. Admins need a platform that’s both flexible and intuitive, allowing easy branding, product addition, and inventory management while offering employees a streamlined shopping experience. The platform also supports gifting options, employee recognition programs, and robust reporting.

RESEARCH & INSIGHTS
To understand user needs, I conducted interviews and surveys with existing customers of the parent company, including HR managers, company admins, and employees.

  • Admins’ Primary Needs: Simplified setup, customization options, and straightforward inventory management.
  • Employee Expectations: Easy navigation, clear product display, and simple checkout process.
  • Gifting & Recognition Programs: Companies value features that enable employee recognition, like birthdays and service anniversaries, which build employee loyalty and engagement.

FEATURES & FUNCTIONALITY
After defining user needs, we focused on the following core features for Launch:

  • Dashboard for Admins: Easy access to add products, customize branding, and set up shipping options.
  • Employee Storefront: A branded, accessible shopping experience for employees.
  • Custom Gifting: Admins can create and share custom gift cards for employee use.
  • Reporting Tools: Allows admins to track store activity, sales, and engagement metrics.
  • Employee Recognition: Supports programs like birthdays and anniversaries through employee lists.

DESIGN PROCESS

  • Wireframes & Flow Design: The first step was wireframing core screens, such as the admin dashboard, product setup, and storefront. We focused on creating clear, logical flows for both admins setting up the store and employees browsing products.
  • High-Fidelity Mockups: Next, I created high-fidelity designs to capture the visual identity of Launch and ensure a cohesive user experience. The color palette and typography were selected to maintain a professional, welcoming aesthetic suitable for diverse corporate branding.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Interactive prototypes were built in Figma for user testing, enabling us to gather feedback and refine the designs. We conducted multiple testing sessions with real users, leading to improvements in navigation, customization options, and the reporting dashboard’s usability.

FINAL DESIGN

  • Admin Dashboard: The dashboard was designed with clear sections for product setup, customization, and settings, making it easy for admins to manage their stores.
  • Employee Storefront: A clean, intuitive storefront where employees can browse and purchase products effortlessly.
  • Reporting & Recognition Tools: The reporting interface provides key metrics at a glance, while the recognition tools make it easy for admins to manage employee programs.
